Indonesian Bakso Noodle Soup

Product Details

Bakso (Meatball) noodle soup is so popular that it has become the Indonesian National Dish, in part because Barack Obama (US President) claimed it as his favorite childhood dish. These large meatballs are served in a beef broth with bok choy and rice noodles. Simply delicious.

Instructions:

Thaw main freezer meal overnight in refrigerator or in the morning in cold water.
Add the contents of freezer bag to crockpot.
Add water according to number of servings. (2 cup per serving for this meal)
Make sure the crockpot is more than 1/2 full - otherwise it will cook hot and you will need to reduce times
Separately boil water, (stove top or kettle), take off the heat.
Soak noodles in boiled water for 9 mins
Rinse with cold water
Add to noddle soup last 1 minutes of cook time just to heat noodles.

Slow Cooker:
Cook on “low” setting for 3- 4 hours in a 6-quart crockpot or 4-5 hours in a 2-quart crockpot. (make sure your slow cooker is between a half to three quarters filled, any less the sauce will burn and any more the meal may not cook in time)

Pressure Cooker (Insta Pot/Ninja Foodie:

Pressure cook mixture for 4 - 5 mins thawed out, 6-8 mins if from frozen
Release pressure and add rice noodles
Replace lid and use keep warm function for 5 mins or noodles are tender.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with wedges of limes, ground peanuts, bean sprouts and/or fresh cilantro and/or a green salad.
